Activities within Papeete's urban borders are unique in the respect that there really is no other large urban atmosphere like it anywhere else in French Polynesia.

The outer islands have no other large centers of population. (In fact, the second largest city in all of Polynesia is Uturoa on the Island of Raiatea, with a population of only 11,000)
